Vitality Netball Superleague
On Friday 24th May, 29 students who regularly attend Netball club on Tuesdays after school, went to watch Loughborough Lightning vs Strathclyde Sirens in the Vitality Netball Superleague.
The event was held at the Sir David Wallace Arena at Loughborough University. The trip was a great success, with many of the girls watching an elite Netball match live for the first time! Everyone really enjoyed themselves and many of the students’ got photos and autographs with the Loughborough Lightening players.
The first half of the match was closely contested, with Loughborough Lightning finishing just 5 goals ahead of half time, with a score of 34-29. The second half went in Lightening’s favour, and they were able to secure a victory of 73-56 to strengthen their league position ahead of the Semi Finals later in June.
Show in the photos are; a picture with shooter Ella Clarke, whose game against Sirens marked 100 appearances for Loughborough Lightning in the VNSL; students getting an autograph by Rhea Dixon; Bolt, the Loughborough Lightning mascot and finally, Nicola Smith, a South African international defended who kindly took the time to have a lengthy chat with year 8 student Emma, who used to live in South Africa, about their home country!
We hope the students are feeling inspired after their trip and continue to enjoy being involved in Netball.
