Admissions
Admission For AUGUST 2024
We are a popular AND OVERSUBSCRIBED School.
Woodbrook Vale is a popular, oversubscribed, comprehensive school. Students will be admitted at age 11 without reference to ability or aptitude. Applications for first time entry into Year 7 in August 2024, should be made using the Leicestershire County Council website. Applications should be made by 31 October 2023.
Our Pupil Admission Number (PAN) for entry in August 2024 is 160 students.
We would encourage any parent to visit the school website and view our virtual open day film (below) prior to applying for a place on the Leicestershire County Council website.
Tours for prospective students take place during September and are advertised through our website, social media and local primary schools. We do not offer a traditional ‘open evening’ as we feel visitors spending time in our school during a typical school day gives the most accurate impression of life at Woodbrook Vale.
Joining Woodbrook Vale at a time other than the beginning of Year 7
Applications for mid-year transfer (also called “in-year admissions”) should be made directly to the school. These are any admission that would take place after the start of the academic year in the Autumn to join the school during that same academic year. This is a change from previous years where the applications were made through the local authority.
Details of our priority criteria for acceptance are on page 1 of our Admissions policy which can be found below. Our designated feeder schools are Holywell, Mountfields Lodge, Outwoods Edge and Beacon Academy.
Should you wish to speak with us about the application process, appeals or the current availability of places in a particular year group, then please contact the School Office in the first instance (office@wbvs.co.uk).
The school will aim to notify parents of the outcome of their application within 10 school days, but will notify in writing within 15 school days.
In the event the application is unsuccessful, there is the right to appeal. An appeal letter can be sent to office@wbvs.co.uk , where you set out your grounds for appeal, and the appeal will be heard within 30 school days of receipt of the appeal letter. Please be aware that the school does need to follow the oversubscription criteria set out in the school’s admissions policy. The Local Authority will be kept abreast of all admissions and appeal outcomes for their records.
Please note: a waiting list is supplied by the local authority for Year 7 entry. This is held until the end of the Autumn Term in that academic year when it is transferred to the school to be managed. Please see our admissions policy for full details.
All admissions for Woodbrook Vale School are considered in line with the Department for Education School Admissions code 2021 which can be found at DfE School Admissions Code.
